Community Waste Collection

We plan and execute projects geared towards community waste reduction and the establishment of sustainable waste collection and recovery firms.

For the past three years we have been engaged in a Community Waste Collection, Sorting & Recovery Programme in the South-South Region of Nigeria (Delta, Bayelsa, Edo, Abia & Rivers States respectively).

The project targets Women & Youth (Waste Pickers at dumpsites and landfills, Community Women & Youth).

This project is made possible with the support of our partners and donors.

PROJECT RESULTS

• Increased incomes and creation of 200 jobs for low-income members of urban and peri-urban and rural communities as a sustainable livelihood strategy
• Access to Market for waste pickers;
• Access to finance for aggregators;
• Establishment of a Sustainable Waste Collection & Recovery Firm in the South-South Region.
